About Carol

I have always been a creative, artistic person. I didn’t go to school for photography, but after being gifted my first Nikon digital SLR camera about 15 years ago, I began to teach myself. After a few years of just messing around taking pictures for fun, I began to photograph family and friends, and I realized a couple things - I was pretty good at it, and I really enjoyed it. Through the years I have taught myself through a lot of YouTubing and Googling; I’ve been lucky enough to be mentored by some incredible local photographers; and I’ve also taken part in online courses and in-person photography retreats. Through these years of learning, I’ve grown into my own style and my sense of artistry.

My photography style is somewhere between lifestyle and documentary. I capture genuine moments in an artistic way. Photo shoots are unscripted, but I will help you out by providing you with some direction. I know that a lot of people feel awkward being photographed (trust me, I get it - I feel awkward, too!) so my top priority is making everyone feel comfortable and relaxed in front of the camera.

The resulting images are authentic, beautiful moments in time that capture you as you truly are. Whether it’s an individual portrait, a couple on their wedding day, or a family session - the heart and soul of my photography is truly seeing people, and showing that through my work.

FAQs

where will our session be held?

Depends what kind of session we’re doing! If it’s a newborn session, it will be in the comfort of your own home. Family sessions are typically held outdoors. I have a few locations that I use, so whether you want a nature-y vibe or a more urban feel, I’ve got you covered.

Weddings & Events are wherever you are doing them! (Additional mileage fees may apply).

how long are sessions?

Family sessions last up to an hour. I find that younger kids have a hard time doing anything much longer than 30-40 minutes. But don’t worry, whether it’s a 30 minute session or a full hour, I will be able to capture a ton of beautiful photos for you to cherish.

Newborn sessions are about an hour long, and can go up to an hour-and-a-half. I allow time for feedings, diaper changes, breaks - whatever you need.

what do i wear??

This is your session and I want you to feel comfortable and feel like YOU. Don’t feel like you need to go out and buy new outfits for your session. On the other hand, if you needed an excuse to go shopping, go for it! The most important thing is that you feel comfortable in what you’re wearing. I have some more guidelines that we can chat about after you book, and I also find it helpful to look on Pinterest for ideas!

can i bring my dog?

Yes! Please bring your dog! Seriously. I love dogs and would love nothing more than to incorporate them into your family photo session! If it’s a public place, we’ll just need to check that dogs are allowed.

when will I get my photos?

Digital images for most sessions will be delivered within four weeks following the session. For weddings, please allow eight weeks. Be sure to follow me on Instagram so you can see any previews shared before the gallery is delivered! When your gallery is ready, you will be emailed a link where you can view and download. Prints and wall art are also available for purchase through your gallery website.

can i share my photos on social media?

Of course! I encourage you to share whatever photos you want from our session. I get many of my new clients this way. I ask that any images shared give photographer credit by tagging my Instagram account (@carolwildphotography) or if sharing on Facebook, include a link to my website. Photos may not be edited, cropped, or have filters added to them before sharing.
